During his lifetime, Joseph Beuys was an artist, teacher, performer, and art theorist whose work reflected concepts of humanism, sociology, and anthroposophy. He founded the art movement Fluxus and was a central figure in the invention of Happenings.
Beuys extends James Joyce’s “Ulysses” by further chapters at the author’s request. As the artist read the German translation of the masterpiece, he underlined and drew on it, creating his own original. Catalog raisonné: Schellmann 511 Offset 1984
