Shepard Fairey (born 1970, in Charleston, South Carolina) is a renowned American street artist, graphic designer, and activist. Emerging from the skateboard culture, he first gained widespread recognition in the late 1980s with his "André the Giant Has a Posse" sticker campaign, which later evolved into the iconic "Obey Giant" series. Fairey is best known for his bold, propaganda-style imagery that often carries social and political messages. His most famous work, the "HOPE" poster for Barack Obama's 2008 presidential campaign, became a symbol of the campaign and solidified his status as one of the most influential contemporary artists. Beyond street art, Fairey has made significant contributions to graphic design, music, and activism, using his art to challenge authority and inspire change.
